This week, we bring more of our exploration of the BLUSH film fest’s offerings with three little adventures into the esoteric, the yummy and the generous. Come along as we continue our Anniversary month!

FLESH AND FIRE
This is going to sound incredibly naive but is there a labial equivalent to blue balls? Because that’s what this short provides.

Flesh and Fire looks phenomenal. A woman lays out a tarot card spread, she pleasures herself with a lit black candle, and then a man comes along, they have some fun and then our unholy four minutes are spent, and the experience is over. All this is presented in disparate scenes with no actual connective tissue. This is nothing more than a trailer, a sizzle reel for someone’s OnlyFans.

Naturally, Kage and I looked around for it. We scoured the Internet for a few minutes and we could find nothing. The hunt was made much more difficult because there’s a popular book series that shares the same name, so any searches are polluted with Romantasy.

This apparent trailer is for a larger work that doesn’t seem to exist. And I want it to so fucking badly.

If anyone knows where to find the rest of this little patchwork, fetishistic pagan flick, please let us know.

TASTES LIKE CHICKEN
This was a lot of fun. A woman is preparing a small chicken for a meal. Meanwhile she is also preparing another chicken, played by a human man in a chicken rubber mask for a similar meal. The film intersperses footage of the lady dressing the bird, stuffing the cavity, tying its drumsticks, and cooking it in the oven with footage of the same things done to the big chicken. The lighting, staging and camera work make this all very intense but with a very tongue in cheek feeling. I kind of loved it. Cute, fun and creative.

EVERYONE LOVES SOFI
My favourite thing about this one was the wardrobe. Sofi had this amazing pair of patchwork bellbottom pants and I loved them. Costuming was on point in this, though I didn’t like the eye makeup very much, I found it harsh and distracting.

There was good communication by all involved, and the positions were dynamic.

Though, I will say, the title is misleading. In reality, Sofi did a lot of work, rather than simply be loved. It’s not a bad experience, completely serviceable, but it felt a lot like a poor man’s version of Erika Lust’s Dirty Martini

Highlight: She pleasured. Herself. With a lit. Candle.

Lowlight: Why was Flesh and Fire just a trailer? WHY??
