"I know I shouldn't play with it..."

Part of the reason I took a hiatus from Animated April for the last…(checks notes)...two years?!

Ahem…

Is because I knew eventually I wanted to review anime, but there are obvious logistical problems with that.

So, since they don't say otherwise, all the characters in this particular anime are in college and you can't tell me different.

Body Transfer is just what it says on the tin. An after school archaeology club is exposed to a rare and mysterious artifact that puts the consciousness of the club members into one another's bodies.

Kenichi has a crush on Miho and dreams he spent the night with her. Only, he did, but just with her body, which was being controlled by Sakajou.

When Kenichi wakes from his dream, he is in the body of Yoshimi, a girl he loves like a sister. Initially he is confused and then, to compound on his troubles, he has to pee!

At first he is respectful of Yoshimi's body but he can't stop himself from exploring it completely.

The animation is good, with bright vibrant colours and not too much repetition. There is variety in the actual mechanics of the erotic content, which is admirable because it's so easy to just loop the same frames over and over again. Detail is especially given to the kissing. Particularly when it happens between two girls.

The rest if the student body switch, resulting in a fun girl on girl scene, and a scene where one girl who loves Kenichi with her whole heart has to stand by and watch while her body is used by another to fuck him.

By the end of the day, after everyone is thoroughly fucked, Kenichi and Miho, now in their proper bodies, consummate their love on the school roof. 

With only two 25 minute episodes the story breezes by. It's not perfect of course. The second episode could have been stronger. The first had all the main kinky stuff and in the end we're left with masturbation and heterosexual sex. 

I'm not a huge fan of the character designs, and when characters hop from one body to another, the aesthetics are rather crucial. 

Also, at times I had trouble telling who was inhabiting who's body. But that could be a language barrier issue. I didn't really feel Kenichi and Miho had a lot of chemistry and would much rather have preferred Kenichi ended up with Yoshimi, since that's where it all started for him in this body swap adventure. 

But it's a quick, sexy fun ride and if you want to explore some rather gentle hentai free of abuse and degradation but still kinky and plays with pathos, this is worth seeking out.

I love a good body swap story. There's nothing quite like it. The boundary pushing exploration, the dubious consent, the uncovering of mysteries. It's a genre fought with taboo and when it's done right it is a real journey. What are some of your favorites?

Best Moment: The bathroom scene. It set the stage for the rest of the anime nicely.


Worst Moment: The character designs. They're quite cheesy.
