Lilith's Notes: Is it still hentai if it's live action?

As we stuff Monster Lover May back into the shadows under our beds for another year, we close with another double feature that embraces well loved tropes of the genre: Live action anime.
Anime is the uncontested ruler of monster love and lust, and to bring it into live action, into flesh and bones is a commendable thing. Does it always translate well? No, but one must respect the attempt.
First, we have Monster Slayer. A half-demon looking woman (played by Rae Lil Black) fights a demon. In the battle, she is swallowed by the beast and inside, tentacles slither up and use her for their pleasure.
For a very, very specific kind of pervert, this has basically everything: vore, tentacles, a hot woman, combat, and buckets and buckets of fluids. Or one can think of it as a dirty version of Jonah and the Whale.
Personally, I wasn’t a huge fan. I’m not a tentacle girlie, nor am I into vore, but hey, if you are, this exists. I found the dialogue, and yes there is dialogue, to be incomprehensible. And, again, I’m not a big fan of totally helpless women succumbing to the monster who just uses her for its own gratification. Granted, this is sort of flipped around near the end, but that means we have to sit through fifteen minutes of ravaging. Worst of all, the main character looks amazing. She’s hot and sexy, with obvious hints of Nezuko from the anime Demon Slayer, which this is an apparent fan-film of. Her design translates well to live-action, but assuming one isn't familiar with the anime, the viewer may feel that there is a story that we never get to learn. What was her deal? Give me backstory, give me an origin. I want to love her!
One bright spot, which was actually a lot of fun, was we see the monster and he is fully CGI. The makers of this did put the time and resources into making this look as good as it could.
If you just want to kill twenty minutes with a hot main character being tentacled, then sure, there’s nothing wrong with this, and the quality is high, it just needed better connective tissue.
On the other end of the spectrum we have Samurai Sisters. Kimmy (Played by Kimmy Kimm) and her sister fight demons, but when her sister falls ill, Kimmy makes a deal with two monsterous men (Played by Tommy Pistol and Nathan Bronson) that they may use her in exchange for a cure.
Samurai Sisters is different in that it’s the first film on this site that we’ve encountered that features male performers.
This is brought to us by Ricky Greenwood, and it feels like he’s fresh off of Deadly Vows, like he hadn’t expunged all the action movie homages out of his system and that’s fine with us! Since Kage and I had recently ridden the ride that was Deadly Vows, we were happy to revisit this energy.
The makeup and character design is good here, as usual from a Greenwood product, but the demonic appendages were apparently fragile and couldn’t stand to be fucked with too hard. The result is Kimmy Kimm just sort of fake-riding a demonic dong and nobody is going anywhere or getting off on anything.
For all my complaining, I can admit that while it might look like the leading ladies are being used, the performers do look like they're enjoying themselves, which is very important. The bottom line is that the 90s kids who, like me, snuck around their basements watching Ninja Scroll, La Blue Girl or Cool Devices are all grown up, and are making the movies of their fappiest dreams.
And really, we should all be so lucky. At least, as viewers, we benefit.
Highlight: The character design across the board in these shorts is worthy of applause.
Lowlight: The appendages were uninspired and couldn't take a beating.
LILITH'S SCORE: 3/5 - Looks good to great, fun effects and both provided interesting departures from the usual monster lover stories.
Until next time, my voracious voyeurs. I’m Lilith, and I’m always watching.
